Goodbye to you all xx October 4, 2023 19:40

Sadly it is now time for me to close Accessorisemygarden. It has been a hard decision to make, but I am sure you will all understand.

It is very difficult for all businesses at the moment, as you see so many closing.  All the prices have increased and I just don’t feel that I can double my prices for my products. Sourcing lovely garden decorations has become impossible, with little choice and increased shipping costs from the places I love to buy from like Thailand, Bali and India.

I have had a tough Year too personally, caring for my poorly Mum, who sadly passed away recently. I have decided to take a step back and take some time out for me.

I move out of the Leatherhead Popup Shop at the end of October, so do take the opportunity to visit for some end of season bargains. I will then wind down my website until my stock is cleared.  I will miss all the girls in the shop but will pop back when I can.

Thank you for sharing all your lovely pictures of how you have decorated your gardens.  They all look amazing.

I have so enjoyed sharing the joys of decorating our garden and homes to make it that special place to enjoy and relax in.

I will also miss the events throughout the Year.  Catching up with all my trader friends too, and wish you all well for the future.

Thank you so much to all my lovely customer’s who have supported me over the Year’s.  I will miss you all.  This is my favourite picture of me in Hampton Court Flower Show.

Namaste

Happy Halloween! October 30, 2022 19:50

The weather has been amazing.  Hope you have had fun this week decorating your doorsteps ready for halloween fun.  Making the most of the October sunshine in your garden.

And of course buddhas - to keep us relaxed and calm over the Christmas period.  They do say that you should never buy yourself a buddha but give as a gift for good luck!

My Spring Wellbeing Garden March 1, 2021 16:27

The Wellbeing Benefits Of Your Garden

With the third lockdown taking it’s toll on all of us, whatever your age, the garden brings even more benefits than ever to our wellbeing.

Being stuck indoors has been hard, especially over the winter months. But with Spring starting to arrive, what better time to venture back out in your garden. With plenty of gardening jobs to do this time of Year I have started pottering…..tidying up my patio, moving my pots around, cutting back the plants that didn’t survive the winter and I even mowed the lawn.

It’s only day one and I already feel a sense of achievement to get my garden back ready for Spring. I have thrown away the cracked accessories that look a little sad and will treat myself to some new ones.

I forget just how lovely it is to be outdoors enjoying the first Spring sunshine and I take the opportunity to enjoy my cup of tea and slice of cake outside sitting on my patio in the warm sunshine. Taking in mindful moments of the little things we need to be thankful for. Today I am thankful for the lovely warm sunshine.

As I look around my garden I am thankful for the birds that visit. The singing robin that sits in my holly tree, that is always there. Robins often remind us of those loved ones we have lost, and I so enjoy talking to my visiting robins any time. I am thankful for the new Spring flowers that are just appearing – my snowdrops make me smile and the little daffodils look cute in a pot outside my back door.

Trending This Season

This Year we will again spend more time than ever in our gardens. Extending our home into the garden is very trending this season. With big seating areas and lots of accessories, lights, lanterns, cushions and rugs making it cosy and inviting. Not sure about the outdoor rugs if it rains, but I love the thought of relaxing here any time night or day.

Garden Lighting

Garden lights are also very popular enhancing our planting areas - they look great under grasses and bamboos too. Also creating a calming area to soften the mood for you to enjoy your summer nights in the garden, relaxing and taking some self care.

From a small calming tea light holder to fairy lights and lanterns

covering your trees and fences. You can't ever have enough garden lights.

My top tip is to definately make getting back into your garden top of the list - as soon as that Spring sunshine returns.

We are all going to have such well deserved fun in our garden this year with hopefully no restrictions and be back reunited with our loved ones in the best place - our gardens.

Lockdown 3 - How Are You Coping? January 17, 2021 17:44

Spring seems a long way away, but I am already getting prepared for those first warm sunny Spring days pottering in my garden - I can't wait!

Lockdowns have made us realise how important it is to take time out for ourselves, to slow down and enjoy our gardens.  Hopefully by Spring we will be lookinf forward to trips out, holiday and normality returning.

Hope you are all safe and well and looking after your wellbeing at home and look forward to bringing new products very soon to help you decorate your outdoor space to make it the best place to be.

JANUARY CLEARANCE

https://accessorisemygarden.co...

I currently have my January Clearance available ready to clear space for my new products arriving very soon!

As soon as my events and pop up shop can reopen I will be in touch!  Thank you for your continued support in my small business.

Your Lockdown Garden September 26, 2020 16:32

Wow You Have Been Busy This Summer!

Thank you so much for sharing all your gardening projects this summer!  Hope you have had fun accessorising your gardens.

Lockdown 2020 has seen us all enjoying our garden and the amazing weather.  We all slowed down and spent some much needed calm time to reflect and restore.  I loved the quietness and the birds and finally spending time accessorising my own garden.

Let's continue enjoying our garden now Autumn has quickly arrived.  Hopefully we won't be back in lockdown and we can make the most of the late Autumn sunshine.

With all my events sadly cancelled I am still very much open for business from my home in Cheam or from my pop up shop in Reigate High Street.

Accessorising Your Garden June 7, 2020 08:05

The weather is amazing - we are still in lockdown - what better place to be than in your garden this summer !

I promote wellbeing in our gardens - the need for us all to slow down and take some self-care during this difficult time.  I have posted wellbeing tips every day since lockdown to help us through.  There is no better time to start accessorising your garden to make it the best place to be this summer!

My top selling geckos are such fun to decorate any fence or shed, available in various colours and three different sizes from £9.00.

Outdoor garden Buddhas can really add a calming effect to your garden and enhance your patio pots like this beautiful acer.

Garden mirrors are very trending at the moment and perfect for a small garden to create the illusion of space. They can become a focus point  and are quite magical - I love them.

Delighted that I have my garden room in Reigate High Street.  It opened last Saturday and we are all very pleased to be back in business.

Do you believe in Fairies?  These are so cute for pot or patio decorations, for all ages to enjoy. Available at £12.00 each.

I am usually trading every weekend - but with all events currently cancelled I am still happy to deliver local to Cheam or for any social distance shopping from my drive anytime.  Would be lovely to see you . xx

Your Wellbeing Garden March 27, 2020 19:52

Hello my friends

Over the coming weeks I hope to bring you tips to help you create a wellbeing garden so that I can help in any way to get through these weeks and months ahead together.  Please follow me via my facebook page
https://www.facebook.com/accessorisemygarden/

The first advice I can give you is to simply take time out to enjoy your garden.  Now is the perfect time.  With Spring arriving and the forecast finally giving us dry and sunny conditions for this week anyway.  We need to make the most of any opportunity we can, we all know with our British weather, in can be unpredictable.

My garden is so important to me and think we will all be in ours more than ever this Year. Whether it is for the kids to run around in or for us wanting a little  bit of peace away from them - we can all benefit.   I am just so lucky to have a garden.

Garden tips

* Start small - mooch around your garden, enjoying a little tidyup now the sun is here.
* Add places to sit - I have added lots of seating to my garden.  One under the tree for those sunny hot days when I need some shade, and one on the patio in full sunlight when I need the warmth of the sun, especially this time of Year!  And one right at the bottom of my garden, away from everyone.
* March is a perfect time to start growing flowers that attract bees and butterflies.
* Great to start growing herbs too that you can use in the kitchen

Benefits of listening to the birds in your garden

Recent  research shows that birdsong can relax us and can be very soothing.  Take a few minutes to just sit in the garden and listen.  My robin is always very noisy and sits in my holly tree.  He definitly makes me smile.

Enjoying your garden

I love to eat lunch alfresco.  Or making a bbq area to enjoy the outdoors with the whole family.  I do hope it will be warm enough very soon.  Please do make your garden bring your family together at this difficult time - and I would love to see pictures of you all  in your garden having fun, please do share.  Namaste xx

My Garden Friend - Mr Robin November 15, 2019 15:49

The Joy of my garden visitor - Mr Robin

I looked out of my window this morning and spotted my favourite visitor to my garden - my robin. I see him all the time, he's busy finding food. He's in a rush, he disappears and then he's back again. I take a stroll to the bottom of my garden, and pleased that he hasn't flown away, he's friendly.  He's particularly noisy today - but i don't mind, I love the sound of a singing robin.

What a lovely way to start my day - My garden is a little dull this time of year, but he certainly brightens up my tree with his lovely red chest. He makes me smile, and sets my mood for the day. I will be back tomorrow and hopefully see him again. Have you got a favourite garden visitor?

Robins are important to me at Christmas time.  I do believe that they come back as your loved ones, and visit us at this Special time of year.  I take time to look out for him, make sure he has plenty of food, especially if it's particularly cold.  And just enjoy his visits.  A friend of mine has a robin that actually comes into her kitchen on a regular basis.  I haven't got that far yet, but just sitting in my tree enjoying my garden is perfect for me.

I like to fill my garden and home with robins this time of year!  And these look particularly real I think.  They look like they are chatting together.

Don't forget to come and visit my garden room at the Reigate Pop Up shop.  Unfortuantely it has now been sold, but will still be trading up until Christmas.  Also you are welcome to visit my Pop up Shop at home too - please contact me for a convenient time to visit, to view my lovely gifts.

Summer is definately over - it hasn't stopped raining for days!  At least the garden will be watered.  I really would like to mow my lawn one last time, so I am hoping we will get a nice dry period.  I will cut back as much as I can ready for the winter months ahead, so it looks nice and tidy.  Don't forget to bring in those garden decorations that are a little delicate from the rain, wind and frost.  You can always put them back out in the Spring.

My Christmas lines are starting to arrive.  I can't wait to show you!  I have plenty of angels and robins as they are my favourite at this special time of year!  Something that we can also have all year round too. When you have your own business it’s just great that you can make changes and I am making big changes to my business this year.  I am not going to be waiting for Spring to arrive to start selling my garden and home products.

Instead I am bringing a more spiritual range to my assortment.  I will be attending wellness/yoga/vegan events and showing my buddhas, chakras, tree of life and more spiritual gifts and decorations that I have fallen in love with on my buying journeys.  I trialled a few before Christmas and really enjoyed trading at a different type of audience.

Autumn 2018 Blog October 1, 2018 19:40

I am sitting in my garden – it’s the beginning of October  and I am reflecting on the summer – it has been amazing! – I wish I could book the weather back every summer like we have just experienced.  Why would we ever go abroad? – we could enjoy Devon, Cornwall or Wales just the same – sunbathing in the sunshine.

My garden has suffered – I tried watering but the lawn just looked paler and paler – but I am not worried it will come back very soon.  I love the Autumn season - I am looking forward to enjoying the last of the sunshine and chilly mornings.

I have so enjoyed my garden this summer – I decorated it with lanterns, garlands, windchimes, suncatchers, buddhas and it just looked such a calm place to be.  My big umbrella sheltered me from those hot hot days 38%!!!! I really did need it.  The only thing that stressed me out was the wasps around my dinner plate - Then I just added my citronella candles that did the trick.

I have spent so much time in my garden this year which is just where I want to be.   It’s so important in this busy life to spend time outdoors relaxing and chilling.  Making a quiet area for you to reflect and just enjoy. I have added lots of buddhas to my assortment this autumn, and I tell my customer's that they need to take time and be drawn to which one suits them best .  This one is my favourite - the budda monk, representing praying for peace.  She looks so calm and relaxed, just where we want to be.

I am now focussing on bringing in my garden accessories now that Autumn days are arriving and we begin the next season.  My buddhas are now in my front room and my lanterns lit to make my home cosy and warm for the chilly evenings ahead.  Don’t leave your decorations outside, look after them over the frosty nights and bring them back out in the Spring.

 .................................................................................

Thank you for supporting me this year with difficult health issues, but I am back in the game now and rearing to go with new directions and ideas.  Sometimes when you are forced to stop, it makes you reflect on where you are and where you want to go.  I will not be trading so much outside this winter, but instead very excited to be attending more spiritual well being events and showing off my beautiful buddhas and chakra and tree of life products.    I strongly believe we all need calm and stress free times in this mad mad world and if I can bring a little bit of that into your lives I am very happy.

Namaste.

Summer Time! July 6, 2018 15:42

I am sitting in my garden under the tree.  It’s too hot to be out in the full sunshine – I didn’t think I would be saying that a few weeks ago after so much wind and rain.  I really hope the good weather is here to stay.

I love the sunshine, I love the warmth, it cheers me up, I just want to be out in the fresh air, making the most of it before it goes away.  I stop all my indoor jobs and focus on my lovely garden.

It’s filled with calmness, buddhas, windchimes, suncatchers and lanterns.  I have set up a seating area, with big colourful cushions, and some burners to give off a lovely smell.  At night it’s covered in solar lights – it’s just a lovely, magical place to be any time of the day or night.  Even the cat has decided the big pink cushion under the lilac tree is the place to be this summer, nice and cool, and perfect for an afternoon snooze.

I have not been too well lately – (don’t want to dwell on ill heath too much) passed out a while back made a good mess of my face and head.  Ended up having a pacemaker fitted, so it won’t happen again.  All a bit of a shock when you lead such a busy life and your heath is good.  It’s been a hugh eye opener.

Actually it’s made me have time to think about what is and is not important in my life and how we need to slow down, and just appreciate what we have around us .  (Which is not so easy to do).

I have learnt to potter – I love to potter in the garden – what am I doing?  Not much really – odd jobs, picking out that weed in the middle of my flower pot, admiring my clematis that is finally in full flower and looking great covering the fence,  and finally watering the garden in the cool evening.   I should be doing  a whole blog on pottering as I just love it!!!

I am planning my future a little different, but making just a few changes - a bit more yoga, as much time as I can in the garden, and a few more bbq's with the family while they are back from Unit and the sun is shining!

I just wanted to share with you the importance of making time to relax and enjoy your garden, while the weather is so good, without having to spend too much.  I hope my website reflects this as I continue to source affordable garden gifts and decorations.

I know your inboxes can get a bit overloaded with newsletters, but we hope you'll stay with us and enjoy the products and news we bring.

Is it me or has it been a very long cold, wet, and windy winter?  It seems ages since I spotted the first signs of snowdrops in mid-January in my garden.  I got a little too enthusiastic and started preparing for Spring, but then it has just got colder with all the snow arriving…. but at last we have seen some glimpses of sunshine and Spring flowers are out …. hooray it’s here at last!

5 Tips For Your Garden

As soon as you get that first dry warm day it’s time to get out into your garden for a good tidy up in just 5 simple steps:

  1. Sweep all the dead leaves from your patio.
  2. Cut back or remove any dead flowers, ready for spring growth.
  3. Pick up all your pots that have been blown around your garden.
  4. Throw away any garden decorations that are rusty or cracked from the frost that have been left out all year.
  5. Treat your lawn to a light cut (not too short for the first cut).

My First Buying Trip To Europe May 27, 2017 14:13

I am sitting in my garden in the lovely May sunshine recovering nicely from my hectic buying trip to Holland.

It was an early start to catch the ferry from Dover, but thankfully a lovely calm crossing before we joined hundreds of juggernaut lorries all heading in the same direction – glad I wasn’t driving.  Unfortunately, there was an accident on the way which slowed us down, but thanks to the satnav we were able to redirect our route so we were not in a queue for another two hours!   Trust us to be travelling on the hottest day of the year!

Finally, we made it to Venlo, a beautiful hotel by the lake and a much needed Dutch beer or two!

Dinner at the hotel was lovely and an early night was needed ready for my big shop up!  Breakfast by the lake in the sunshine.  They do it well with hams, cheeses, fruits, breads and eggs – perfect!

Always like a challenge and found that my wholesale warehouse was going to be harder to find than we thought as the road surrounding it had not been built!  Finally, we arrived and was not disappointed. When I say big – I mean MASSIVE …rows and rows of garden gifts and decorations – it’s a sweet shop!!!!!

We methodically made our way round the warehouse with my husband telling me how much I have spent along the way.  It’ a good job as it could get messy!!!!   Some of the products I felt were a little pricy but I managed to bring back some lovely pieces to share with you all!   How about these to brighten up any garden @ £5.00 each

Love the Dutch people, they are so friendly and all you see are bikes everywhere – they even decorate them with flowers!  I am going to do that to my bike!

Couldn’t resist this lovely ceramic cat decoration at £6.00

We did manage to nip into a local garden centre in Venlo – and we were both amazed by the assortment and quality of the plants and gifts.  – unfortunately, no room in the car for plants!

After another long, hot journey back, thankfully a lovely calm crossing and home.  Really enjoyed my first buying trip in Europe.  Done Holland …thinking of somewhere new next time!  Any ideas?

Accessorise your garden for 2017 March 8, 2017 00:12

As I write this, the view from my window is not filling me with enthusiasm. It’s grey, damp and miserable and my garden is looking decidedly brown and soggy. The current cold temperatures are definitely not inspiring me to get out there at the moment but that doesn’t mean I’m neglecting my outdoor space entirely. I’ve been reading up on what are going to be the big garden trends in 2017 and pondering which of my fab garden accessories will help me recreate them. My garden is going to be ultra-fashionable this year!

House Beautiful magazine recently gave their verdict on what’s going to be happening in UK gardens in 2017 and it seems that you should be going in one of two, very opposing, ways. You can either scale it back in a nod to Scandinavian minimalism: think whitewashed decking and fake fur rugs (let’s just forget about practicality here for a moment) or go all out with colour and textures to create some sumptuous style statements on your patio.

Bamboo mountain candlesIf you like your garden to be a haven of calm and want to accessorise with pale woods and muted hues then I’ve got some fab products that would set this off perfectly: check out these bamboo mountain candles and this hanging heart with a bird decoration!

Moroccan LanternsIf you fancy the second, more lavish, option then take a look at my beautiful Fairtrade Hanging Moroccan Lanterns. They’re a good start towards bringing some glamour into your garden and my very reasonable prices mean you don’t have to have an extravagant budget to afford them.

They look amazing at night, with the flickering candle inside sending gorgeous vibrant patterns into every dusky corner. (You might also like my gold multi-glass lantern for the same reason!)

And talking of candles, those lanterns also fit nicely into another 2017 garden fashion: imaginative lighting! It’s set to go from functional to fun this year so, if you want to be on trend, you’ll need to jazz up your outdoor illuminations. Go for funky fairy lights draped over shrubs, uplighters in your beds and exotic lamps hanging from your branches.

elephant lanternPersonally, I’m very fond of this striking elephant lantern - it looks great with coloured candles in it!

And if it’s colour you’re looking for then I’ve also got a great range of Fairtrade wind chimes. Whether they’re made from bamboo, metal or wood they all sound lovely on a breezy day and bring a much-needed bit of cheer to bare gardens at this time of year.

(The wind chimes make fab gifts too so keep them in mind for Mother’s Day on Sunday 26th March!)

My shop is crammed full of beautiful items that will enhance your green patches, no matter what theme you’re aspiring to. Have a look around and please let me know what you’re doing with your outdoor spaces in 2017 – I’d love to see how you Accessorise Your Garden!
